POEMS:

Moving Slowly

Peer Pathways

Moving Slowly

The 7 is, without a doubt
The slowest bus
In all of Seattle
Always late
Just like me
I supposed we’re meant to be
But wouldn’t I rather be dependable
At least part of the time?
Every day is a lesson in
Patience
Waiting for the clouds to disperse
So i can revel in
Rainier’s Glory
Today is clear
But not clear enough
Hazy and jumbled
Mumbling through the day
Hoping that someone
Somewhere
Will learn how to speak
In tongue twisters
So we can finally be heard

Peer Pathways

Learning the path of a peer
is like any other--
rocky
with crests and troughs
and waves of courage crashing
If every moment
is opportunity to practice
Then nothing is too much to bear
No mountain unscalable
No dive can’t be
Kicked to the surface
I don’t want to heal you
I want to walk beside you
When you’re ready
I’ll be ready
I’m always ready
To hold a mirror to your facade
Once shed, light beams erupt
One by one
Illuminating the love within
To carry us home
  Back to

Back to
